Fordham University has produced a number of NFL players over the years, although the school is not typically recognized as a major football powerhouse. Some notable Fordham NFL alumni include:
Ed Franco: Franco played guard for Fordham in the 1930s before being drafted by the New York Giants in 1939. He went on to have a five-year career in the NFL, earning All-Pro honors in 1941.
Alex Wojciechowicz: Wojciechowicz played center for Fordham in the early 1930s and was also a member of the school's renowned Seven Blocks of Granite offensive line. He was drafted by the Detroit Lions in 1938 and went on to have a Hall of Fame career as a center and linebacker.
Vince Lombardi: While Lombardi is better known for his coaching career, he also played football at Fordham in the 1930s. He was a member of the Seven Blocks of Granite and played guard and tackle. After graduating, he briefly played semi-pro football before turning to coaching.
Frank Minini: Minini played tackle for Fordham in the 1930s and was also a member of the Seven Blocks of Granite. He was drafted by the Cardinals in 1938 and played for several NFL teams over the course of his career.
Mike Ditka: Ditka played tight end for the Chicago Bears in the 1960s, but before that he was a multi-sport star at Fordham. He played football, basketball, and track, and was an All-American in football in 1960.
Nick Buoniconti: Buoniconti played linebacker for the Miami Dolphins in the 1970s and was a key part of the team's legendary "No-Name Defense." He played at Fordham in the 1960s and was a two-time All-American.
